Greetings

My name is Tanimoto, Executive Vice President of Kyushu University. As of July 2025, I have been appointed Director of the Center for Semiconductor and Device Ecosystem. I am committed to contributing to the continued development of the Center.

The importance of semiconductor-related research and education is increasing with the recent progress of digitalization and green technology. To meet the needs of society and align with the university’s research strategy, the Center for Semiconductor and Device Ecosystem was established on June 1, 2024, as a university-wide organization. The Center aims to develop an open innovation platform for research and education in the field of semiconductors by utilizing the university’s semiconductor-related technologies, know-how, and semiconductor process equipment, including clean rooms. Additionally, the Center will collaborate with the Education Center for Semiconductors and Value Creation to promote collaboration in research and education related to both hardware and software in the semiconductor field.

Semiconductor technology is relevant to all industrial sectors and has become essential for the development of modern society. By providing a platform for research and education in semiconductor technology within and outside the university, the Center aims to become a leading research and education hub on Silicon Island, Kyushu, and to contribute to the sustainable development of semiconductor technology.

We sincerely appreciate your cooperation and support in the operation of the Center. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
